The latest mix of ministers have been sworn in by the Governor at Government House in Hobart.
Former Mayor of Sorell Kerry Vincent has been promoted, taking on Infrastructure which was ultimately the fall of Michael Ferguson over the troubles around the new Spirit of Tasmania ships.
“I’ve had my life in and around the construction industry with my years as mayor dealing with state and federal governments and infrastructure projects of various, yes I do feel that I’m in a perfect position to take on this portfolio.”
Kerry Vincent’s also Local Government Minister and plans to liaise with the state’s 29 councils which are still yet to form any mergers.
He plans to steer the emphasis away from the term amalgamations to sustainability.
“The big pressure on most councils is the different parts of their makeup that financial pressure on them and most rate payers aren’t aware of that, sometimes even new councillors aren’t aware of it.”
