Construction works on the new Bridgewater Bridge have reached the home stretch with the 1082nd and final roadway segment installed yesterday in Hobart’s north.
Project Director Ben Maloney says they’re hoping the bridge becomes a legacy structure that will serve the public for many years to come.
“It’s a massive achievement and it’s quite surreal but we’re keeping our eye on the main prize which is traffic on the bridge, so we won’t be taking our foot off the accelerator in terms of the work we need to do over the next two or three months to get traffic on the bridge.”
The bridge is expected to be open to traffic by mid year.
