Betta Milk will have a new owner, with Bega Cheese Limited purchasing the operation from owner Tasfoods, along with the Meander Valley Dairy in a deal worth $11 million, subject to approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The acquisition also includes a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use the Pyengana Dairy brand for milk and cream products in Australia.

Burnie-based Betta Milk was taken over by Tasfoods in 2019 in an $11 million deal as well.

Bega Group’s CEO Pete Findlay says they recognise the quality of Betta Milk, Meander Valley Dairy and Pyengana milk brands and are pleased to add the Tasmanian brands to their portfolio.

Bega also owns Tasmaid Milk, based at Lenah Valley, in the South.
