Tasmania’s recorded its highest March Hotel Occupancy at 89.1%

The North was at a record of nearly 92%, and the south just under 91%.

Nick Roney from Tasmania’s Hospitality Association credits some strong events for the numbers.

“Some of the events that have happened, you’ve had Echo Fest, the rowing championships, from all reports from our members accommodation was filled up from as far as Devonport through to Launceston, so when there are events like that on…and I think Ten Days On The Island was on as well, things like that help hospitality.”

He’s finding operators are full of confidence

“They’re buoyant heading into winter, there are things that are still engaging the actual hospitality sector like the AFL footy, there are games coming up in Launceston very soon and in the south as well, so if we can get an injection of people going to those games that come from interstate that is going to help immensely.”
